Iterate CHRIIS explained

Sustaining transformation leads back to challenging identity—not to the same place but to a new cycle of CHRIIS as the organization continues to evolve. The cycle as a whole can then be understood as a question of How will we move?

In most circumstances, this movement will be toward rather than away from greater complexity. Complexity is a natural and positive direction for an organization’s evolution. Greater complexity means simultaneously greater differentiation and greater integration. It is marked by both stronger parts and relationships, and by both deeper identity and transformation.

This step thus involves systemic design, which gains its power through a synergy of many forms of knowing. CHRIIS is a systemic design tool, one that we have expanded on this site as a step toward integrating ways of knowing, doing, and being—mind, body, and spirit—into a way of becoming. Sample triggering questions include:

How will we consciously evolve?

What structures, processes, policies, and practices will we create to guide our organization’s evolution?

How will we continually monitor and evaluate their effectiveness?

What key questions will strengthen parts and relationships of our inquiry system (e.g., CHRIIS)?
